What is Neotopia?

Neotopia is a browser-based, multiplayer 2D sandbox. Visitors explore shared worlds, build with blocks, grow trees, exchange items and interact with other people.

The website at playneotopia.com opens an interactive application. Most of its content appears inside worlds after the visitor enters through the sign-in and world-selection screens. This public overview explains that experience without requiring an account.

What visitors do on the website

Build and explore

Each world is a shared space made from blocks. Visitors move through it, view other players’ creations, and place terrain, backgrounds and furniture where they have permission. World and Area Locks determine who can edit protected spaces.

Collect and create

Players gather materials, plant seeds and harvest trees. They use an inventory and hotbar to select objects for building or other activities, including fishing. Clothing and accessories let them customize their character.

Interact and trade

World chat lets visitors talk in a shared space. The trade interface shows what each person gives and receives before they accept. The site includes both first-party content and player-created worlds.

How to access the content

  1. Open playneotopia.com and follow the on-screen sign-in options.
  2. Choose a featured or suggested world, or enter a world name in the selector.
  3. Use the movement controls to explore. The inventory and hotbar provide access to building items and tools.

The application requires JavaScript and an internet connection. The sign-in screen and world selector provide access to the experience; the worlds contain the interactive content. This overview can be read without JavaScript or a game session.

Development notes and building guides

The Neotopia Journal follows the work behind our worlds: interface improvements, visual details and practical ideas for builders. Articles are freely available to read without signing in.
